Terms of use

The rules for using ModScrim, written to be read.

Last updated 30 October 2026

Using ModScrim

These terms apply when you use the ModScrim website and app run by Harsh Bhanushali and Dhairya Patel (“we”). By signing in, joining a drill or opening a demo room, you agree to them. If you use ModScrim for a team or organisation, you confirm you can accept these terms for it.

You must be old enough to use Twitch where you live and follow Twitch’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

What ModScrim does

ModScrim is a practice tool. It runs simulated raids in a practice chat that only your mods can see, scores your team, asks Twitch to grade your filters, proposes blocked terms and, when you approve, adds them to your channel with an undo. It doesn’t moderate your real chat, and it isn’t a replacement for AutoMod, moderation bots or your own judgement.

Grades, proposed terms and fresh-wave results are estimates of how your filters behave. Twitch’s systems can change, and two engines can disagree. A term that passed every check can still affect messages you didn’t expect.

Your responsibilities

  • You decide what to push. You are responsible for the blocked terms you approve and for removing any that cause problems.
  • Tell your community that your channel’s chat is logged for 7 days for the false-ban check, for example in your panels or rules.
  • Only invite people who have agreed to take part in drills, and respect a mod’s choice not to.
  • Keep your overlay link private, and rotate its key if it leaks.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • copy generated attack lines out of the practice chat to post them anywhere, including Twitch chat;
  • use ModScrim to harass anyone, or to build, test or share ways to evade another channel’s moderation;
  • try to read data from channels or rooms that aren’t yours, guess join codes, or get around rate limits;
  • overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the hosted service beyond what the open-source licence allows;
  • use ModScrim in a way that breaks Twitch’s Terms of Service or Developer Agreement, or the law.

We may suspend access that breaks these rules.

Twitch

ModScrim uses Twitch’s public API with the permissions you grant. Twitch is a separate company with its own terms. ModScrim isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by Twitch, and “Twitch” is a trademark of Twitch Interactive, Inc.

Open-source code

ModScrim’s source code is published in the public repository under the licence stated there, which governs your use of the code. These terms govern the hosted service.

Availability and changes

ModScrim is a free project. We may change features, set limits, or pause or shut down the service. If we plan to shut it down, we’ll give signed-in streamers notice in the console where we reasonably can, and we’ll delete stored data as the privacy policy describes.

No warranty

ModScrim is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that it will be error-free, that grades or proposed terms will be accurate, or that it will stop any attack on your channel.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by terms you pushed, by attacks on your channel, or by Twitch’s systems. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

Ending use

You can stop at any time with Sign out and delete my data, or by removing ModScrim from your Twitch connections, after which we delete your data once Twitch notifies us. Terms you pushed stay on your channel until you remove them; Undo this push removes them for you while you’re signed in.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, with courts in Gujarat, India, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections where you live.
